To transform communities and the mental health system throughout California to empower, support, and ensure the rights of consumers, eliminate stigma, and advance self-determination for all those affected by mental health issues by championing the work of consumers and consumer-run organizations.

Founder
Sally Zinman 1937-2022
As many in my dear peer community know. Sally L. Zinman, founding Director of CAMHPRO was my mother. She remains my hero and guardian. My mother left huge shoes to fill but a lifetime of extraordinary experience and empathy to draw from. Sally valued two things above all else in building community organizations and a solid peer movement based on self-determination. Diversity, and the development of Empowered Youth, in her estimation, a lifelong spirit of true humility and advocacy are required to make room for and learn from the unique wisdom of all. It is a great honor and privilege for me to anchor my presence on the CAMHPRO Executive Board in these values and I look forward to supporting CAMHPRO in ushering in a new era of holistic diversity in California peer advocacy. Let’s do this!
